The Full Story
Proud Henry is a stunning oasis, set in a heritage listed building with over 100 years of history. Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley & a short stroll away from Chinatown. Proud Henry is the perfect place to escape from the outside world and relax over a gin – select from our list of more than 280 from all corners of the globe, or enjoy a bottle of artisan, hard to find wine, hand selected from our travels around Australia and the world, or just sit back and let our staff prepare a unique and inspiring house-cocktail. Featuring high, pressed metal ceilings, art deco chandeliers, an historic back room cellar with bare brick walls and cosy fairy-lit tropical oasis in the courtyard, Proud Henry has many intimate spaces to tuck yourself away with someone special, or gather with a group of fun loving friends. We are all watched over from a lofty height by our peacock in residence, Proud Henry himself.
Our Wine
Our other great love is wine, and we offer a small but carefully curated and considered list of boutique wines from around the world. We have travelled extensively and we love finding a new wine. If we cant buy it we find someone who makes it. Our mission is to support small wine makers, those craftsmen and craftswomen who have created something unique to share with just a few. Biodynamic, organic, natural and quirky are our specialities.
Our Mission
We love gin and our travels across the globe have allowed us to sample gins of all kinds from all corners. With more than 280 gins, we have the largest collection under one roof, in Brisbane. We have sourced many of them from our own travels abroad, meaning they are generally unavailable in Australia. This extensive and constantly growing selection means there is always something new to try.
We are all about championing the flavours and botanicals of the spirit itself, so our focus is on creating more than the perfect gin and tonic, its about creating an experience. The human palate uses experience to remember something so tasting a new gin for the first time will be memorable.
We have some talented staff behind the counter, like an old apothecary, so tell us how you like your medicine and we’ll create something special for you. Yes, we have a sharp list of classic and contemporary gin based drinks so you’re in the right spot.
